Love a good laugh.

Katie Daniels is Creative Director for Turner Classic Movies—a role she was born to play. Even as a preschooler, she responded to good design in the world and wasn’t shy about sharing her assessments when something fell short.

Growing up in a small Alabama town, she often made the newspaper for milestones like winning poster contests, robot competitions or for being the youngest person with a booth at the local arts festival, where she sold handmade gift tags. In high school, she even led art classes for fellow students since a formal program did not exist. It was no surprise when she eventually fled town for bonafide art instruction in Savannah.

In the 20 years of her design career, Katie has also worked for notable media brands including HBOMax, TBS/TNT and Creative Loafing. Her design work has been featured in some of her favorite publications, such as Southern Living, Country Living, Uppercase and Atlanta Magazine. Her environmental graphics have won Promax, HOW and Print Mag awards. (She’s also managed to win Redbull’s human-powered flight competition, Flugtag. Twice.)

Her favorite projects involve juggling all the disparate elements of a 360 project like environmental signage, branded merch, print collateral, social media whatnots, motion graphic bits, and other deliverables that require thoughtful, impactful design.

She finds inspiration in the past while embracing technology and change. When Katie’s not formally designing, you’ll likely find her restoring her family's 125-year old home in Decatur, manning one of her antique printing presses or patiently stirring roux with one of her young daughters.
